The Beatles' Activities During the Housemans' Vacation

The Houseman family vacationed at the Kellerman Resort Hotel from August 10 through September 2, 1963. As the family was driving toward the hotel on August 10, Baby Houseman narrated from the future:
That was the summer of 1963, when everybody called me "Baby", and it didn't occur to me to mind. That was before President Kennedy was shot, before the Beatles came -- when I couldn't wait to join the Peace Corps, and I thought I'd never find a guy as great as my dad. That was the summer we went to Kellerman's.
Yes, the Beatles still had not come to the USA. So, what were they doing during those days? I studied a website called The Beatles Bible. I will start a week before the Housemans' vacation.

August 3: The Beatles made their final appearance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, England. The group was about to leave its hometown behind for unprecedented world-wide fame and fortune.

August 10 - 13: The Beatles perform at concerts in Jersey, Blackpool and Lladudno.

August 14: The Beatles recorded two songs at the Granada TV Centre in Manchester. The recording of "Twist and Shout" was broadcast that evening. The recording of "She Loves You" was broadcast on August 19.

August 15-17: The Beatles perform at concerts in Lladudno.

August 18: The Beatles performed on a television show called Summer Spin. They mimed "She Loves You" and "I'll Get You".

August 18 - 21: The Beatles performed at concerts in Torquay and Bounemouth.

August 22: The Beatles posed for the photograph for their future album, With the Beatles. They appeared on a television show called Day by Day and mimed the song "She Loves You". They performed at a concert in Bounemouth.

August 23: The song "She Loves You" was released as a single record in the United Kingdom.

The record's back side had the song "I'll Get You".

August 24-25: The Beatles perform at concerts in Bournemouth and Blackpool.

August 25, 1963: Convicted of speeding, Paul McCartney was fined, and his driver's license was suspended for one year.

August 26-31: The Beatles perform at concerts in Southport. They also are filmed for a documentary film, in which they perform "Twist and Shout" and "She Loves You" and "Love Me Do".

September 1:  The Beatles recorded a performance in the Didsbury Studio Centre in Manchester for the US broadcasting corporation, for a television show called Big Night Out (video at the link). They mimed "From Me to You" and "She Loves You" and "Twist and Shout". The recorded show subsequently was broadcast in the USA on September 7. This would be the first US television broadcast of a Beatles performance.

Below is a video of the Beatles performing "She Loves You" and "Twist and Shout" in a concert on November 20, 1963 -- two days before the assassination of President John Kennedy.

The Beatles arrived in the USA on February 7, 1964.
