An Interview With Kelly Bishop, Who Played Marjorie Houseman

The role of Marjorie Houseman was played by actress Kelly Bishop, who had been hired to play the role of Vivian Pressman. In the original script there was a scene in which Vivian Pressman danced with Johnny Castle. Bishop was hired because she had dancing experience in theater plays.

The Vivian-Johnny dancing scene was removed the script, and for various reasons Bishop was re-assigned from the role of Vivian Pressman to the role of Marjorie Houseman.

Bishop became a lasting friend of the actor Jerry Orbach, who played the role of her husband, Jake Houseman.
