The #1 movie was Three Men and a Baby, the box-office receipts of which amounted to $167.8 million.
Almost three times as many people watched Three Men and a Baby in movie theaters as watched Dirty Dancing.
Both movies dealt with a professional artist's unplanned pregnancy.
* In Dirty Dancing, a professional dancer gets pregnant and has an abortion. At the movie's end, the dancer is alone.
* In Three Men and a Baby, a professional actress gets pregnant and gives birth. At the movie's end, the actress is living with her cute baby girl and with three handsome men who all love and help take care of the baby.
In the latter movie, the actress leaves the baby girl at the door of an apartment where her lover lives with two other men. The baby is cute, and the three men are handsome bachelors. Watching the three clueless men take care of the cute baby is lots of laughs.
Eventually the mother comes back, and the three men allow her to move in with them so that she can continue her acting career. It's a happy ending for everyone.
