Chronology from Tuesday, August 27, through Sunday, September 1

I have caught myself developing some wrong ideas about the story's chronology. I will have to correct several previous articles. In the meantime, I correct and summarize the story's last days as follows:

Tuesday, August 27

Baby gets angry because there are only two days left until the Sheldrake show, but Johnny still has not shown her how to do the lifts. Baby and Johnny go out into the country. The "Hey Baby" scene. Johnny lifts Bay in the lake.

Wednesday, August 28

No events shown in the movie.

Thursday, August 29

As Baby and Penny go toward the dressing room, Baby remarks that she can't believe the Sheldrake show is tonight. Baby and Penny encounter the Schumachers. Inside the dressing room, Penny says she does not sleep around. Penny remarks that she is scared about her abortion, scheduled for later that day.

As Lisa is going into the hotel's Thursday night bingo games, Baby asks her to lie about her whereabouts. Baby and Johnny perform at the Sheldrake. When they return, they find Penny sick after the abortion. Baby fetches her father Jake, who treats Penny. Jake tells Baby to stay away from Johnny. After Jake goes back to bed, Baby goes to Johnny's cabin, where she seduces him.

Friday, August 30

At breakfast, Jake tells his family they are going home the next day (Saturday). Because Lisa wants to perform in the talent show (Sunday), Jake relents to stay. After Jake has re-examined Penny in her cabin and left, Baby and Johnny enter the cabin. Penny asks how their performance went on the previous night, and Baby says she didn't do the lift. After Baby leaves the cabin, Penny tells Johnny to stay away from Baby.

The Houseman family is inside a room because it is raining. Baby returns to Johnny's cabin and they have fun and talk in bed.

That night, Baby and Lisa are in their hotel bedroom, and Lisa says she intends to "go all the way" with Robbie. Baby advises Lisa to wait and do it "with someone that you sort of love".

Saturday, August 31

Baby and Johnny do the "Love is Strange" dance in a practice room. Neil insists that Johnny teach the employees to dance the pachanga for the talent show. Baby advises Johnny to discuss the dance choice with Neil again. Johnny says he might have to go back to a house-painting job.

Someone remarks:
It's almost over. The Labor Day weekend is here. Soon it's back to the old books and back to work. What a terrible thought!
Johnny gets mad because Baby won't tell her father about their relationship. Johnny leaves, but Baby finds him in Penny's cabin. Baby and Johnny go out onto the cabin's porch and begin to make peace with each other. Johnny fights with Robbie.

Various people are preparing for the Sunday talent show. Vivian invites Johnny to meet her later that evening. While playing cards, Moe offers Johnny money to give Vivian a dance lesson. Johnny refuses the money. Lisa goes to Robbie's cabin and finds him having sexual intercourse with Vivian. Baby goes to Johnny's cabin and has fun with him in bed again.

Sunday, September 1

Early in the morning, Vivian comes out of Robbie's cabin and sees that Baby is coming out of Johnny's cabin.

At breakfast in the restaurant, Max tells about how he found out that Johnny stole money from Moe's card game. Baby protests that she knows Johnny did not steal the money because she was with him in his cabin.

Baby and her father talk about their troubled daughter-father relationship.

Johnny is exonerated about the theft accusation, but he is compelled to resign. Johnny tries to make peace with Jake but fails. Baby says goodbye to Johnny, who drives away.

Baby and Lisa make peace with each other as they dress in their hotel room for the talent show. Later that evening, the talent show takes place. Johnny returns and dances with Baby.
