No More News About Jason Whittle

This article is the fifth in a series.

The first article was titled Patrick Swayze's Unknown Son.

The second article was titled The Whittle Family of Morgan County, Missouri.

The third article was titled The 1972 "Disney on Parade" Tour and Patrick Swayze.

The fourth article was titled Patrick Swayze met Bonnie Kay Whittle in April 1972.

======

One month has passed since Globe magazine revealed in its July 31 issue that Patrick Swayze had an unknown son, Jason Whittle. Since then, neither Globe no any other tabloid has reported any more information.

I figure that the Globe article caused Patrick's widow Lisa to reach a settlement that satisfied Whittle and will prevent him from revealing any more information about this matter without her permission.

Lisa has remarried to a wealthy jeweler named Albert DePrisco. His sister Deirdre is a professional ballroom dancer.

Any legal disputes about Patrick Swayze's estate are bad publicity for Lisa. It's been reported that some of Patrick's relatives alleged that Lisa manipulated the dying Patrick into willing the estate entirely to her.

I don't have an opinion about the truth of such allegations. However, the allegations would resurface repeatedly with continued news about Jason Whittle trying to get part of Patrick's estate. She could afford to give Jason plenty of money to prevent further news stories.

It seems to be a good ending for Jason's family and also for Lisa's family.

I think that Patrick and Lisa never knew about Jason while Patrick was alive. I assume that if they had known, they both would have been happy to make him a belated son in their own Swayze family.

I hope that Jason eventually will tell his story in a manner that Lisa approves. I think that his story could be turned into an interesting movie. There is an ironic contrast between Patrick's becoming famous because of the pro-choice movie Dirty Dancing and Jason's living to become wealthy (and I hope happy) because he himself was not aborted.

A Comment From the Son of Jason Whittle

  1. I am noah whittle the son of Jason whittle and grandson of Bonnie Kay lada and I would just like to say my grandmother never once bragged about sleeping with the actor/movie star Patrick swayze. I couldn't even get her to tell me who my grandfather was until she was already passing away of cancer... up until then it was a we don't speak of him or it doesn't matter. I grew up my whole life not knowing who my grandfather was and if there is that slightest chance that my grandfather is Patrick swayze For the sake of my families name and who we are i think we deserve to know the truth above all else... my father never once asked for his picture to be placed on this magazine.

    1. I believe if a DNA test proves that your father Jason is in fact Patrick son then he should be entitled to everything under the law from his father's estate. There love affair was during Vietnam conflict after the Korean War. During a totally different kind of era then we have today. Still it must have been difficult for your grandmother to have a child out of wedlock. Then to stoically keep the secret of who he really was to herself. However I think that he would have accepted his son with open arms given he had no children otherwise. At this point he had many brothers that could have a relationship with Jason and his son like yourself. I think you men should wear his name proudly and not be quietly hidden. By all counts Jason was born prior to Patrick being married or even having a deep relationship with his wife.
Therefore there is no reason to not proudly say who he is toi you if DNA backs it up.

  2. I think that whether or not Jason is or isn't Patrick Swayze's son, is nobody's business except for Jason and Patrick. The Globe is a rag I would not line my bird cage with if I had one, just like the Enquirer. The movie "Dirty Dancing" was in no way "pro-abortion". What a crock of malarky to even suggest that. The incident merely portrayed the reality of what thousands of young women went through in the ignorance of that time period ( before women's right to choose and accurate sex education). Stop using a fun movie for political/religious claptrap B.S. Stop romanticizing the decision of Jason's mom. Each person has their own demons to wrestle, and believe me, not everything turns out roses and violins some of us wish our mothers would have made a different decisions, instead of making our lives a living hell.

    1. Very true. My mother was a drunk and she made our lives beyond hell, to going out on benders each year when her depression would come and go. Embarrassed my dad back them publicly and financially that he had to keep working all the hours god sent as people say. I was born with a curvature of the spine. My dad told me it was through a machine that this condition occured and appeared when I was 1 or 2 where a normal left shoulder blade should be. I never had much luck being accepted by my peers or by some teachers. They were ignorant of scoliosis facts in the 1990's. If I could publish this story, I would. Relatives are still living and I don't suppose they would like our personal lives spoken about. There are more gruesome tales but I best leave these buried.

  3. If he did indeed have a son he did not want us to know about it. His desire for his son to live a private life is more than obvious if we are just now finding out about it. Leave them alone and let them seek their answers.

  7. What a tragedy for both father and son not to have known each other, because Patrick so wanted to be a father, and I'm sure Jason would have loved to know his real father. Plus, Patrick would have been an amazing father to Jason! I also have to comment on the continous commenting on Dirty Dancing being a "pro-abortion" movie??!? Seriously? Come on! All players in the film were against the abortion but the character had to work to survive, so she made the hard choice. It's clear no one wanted it. So drop that commentary and realize that this was a movie about financially poor but talented people vs. rich elites who don't care. It's about class, not abortion. Think more deeply and realize this was a great classic film about real life.

  9. I am not the anonymous making the rude comments.

I assist adoptee's in my family locating their biological parents/family through DNA from time to time. I have done 15-20. I use AncestryDNA because it has the largest number Autosomal DNA tests. Autosomal DNA offer you the broadest range of relationships, were as Y-DNA severely limits the scope of match results to your direct line of males.

The basics are you build a family tree (I found a Jason Whittle Family Tree on Ancestry) with what you know, the basics if you will. From their you expand the tree by researching your matches and finding the relationship. Any match that you share 200 & above cm of DNA with is generally pretty easy to figure out the relationship. If Patrick Sawyze had a brother or sister they would share on average 1760cm of DNA with Jason. Their children would share about half that.

Whittle and Swayze are not common name like Smith, Wilson or Jones, so in this case narrowing down common links and who the mother or father were becomes much, much easier.
